Aprilia SR 160 Latest Update
Aprilia India hiked the price of the SR 160 in May 2022. You can find more information about this here. The Aprilia SR 160 is one of the most performance-oriented scooters in the small-capacity segment after the Yamaha Aerox 155. Aprilia launched the latest iteration of the SR 160 in India back in November 2021.
Aprilia SR 160 Price:
The updated Aprilia SR 160 is priced at Rs 1,24,500. The SR 160 Carbon Edition retails at Rs 1,27,011. Then comes the range-topping SR 160 Race Edition is pegged at Rs 1,33,752 (all prices ex-showroom, Pune).
Aprilia SR 160 Features:
The updated Aprilia SR 160 comes with a redesigned LED headlight replacing the twin halogen units on the older model. At the rear, it gets a unique ‘X’ shaped LED tail lamp. The scooter also gets a new fully digital instrument cluster with a tachometer, speedometer, mileage indicator, distance-to-empty, average speed and top speed display, two tripmeters, a fuel gauge, and a clock from the SXR 160. It does get a Bluetooth connectivity suite, but that’s a Rs 2000 extra, offering you a call/SMS alert, but no turn-by-turn navigation.
Aprilia has equipped the 2021 model with a new faux split seat setup. The underseat storage stands at a measly 11 litres, and it comes with a USB charger and a boot light as well. It also gets a redesigned pillion grab rail. For improved safety, the scooter carries over the single-channel ABS setup from its predecessor. The Carbon Edition comes with faux carbon fibre texture on the bodywork, and a unique livery. On the other hand, the Aprilia SR 160 Race Edition gets a tweaked CVT for better performance, special Aprilia RS-GP-inspired graphics with red coloured alloys, and knuckle guards.
Aprilia SR 160 Engine:
The updated Aprilia SR 160’s 160.03cc single-cylinder air-cooled three-valve fuel-injected motor has been retained from the older model, and continues to churn out 11PS at 7600rpm and 11.6Nm at 6000rpm. Aprilia could’ve tweaked the engine to make a bit more in the updated iteration. It would’ve helped it have a better chance against the Yamaha Aerox 155, which makes 15PS and 13.9Nm.
Aprilia SR 160 Suspension & Brakes:
The updated Aprilia SR 160 retains the same underpinnings as before. It gets a telescopic front fork, a single rear shock absorber, a disc brake up front and a drum at the rear, with single-channel ABS as standard. The scooter continues with its 14-inch alloys with 120-section Ceat Zoom Plus tubeless tyres at both ends.
Aprilia SR 160 Rivals:
The updated Aprilia SR 160 goes up directly against the Yamaha Aerox 155, while the only other alternative in the 150-160cc segment is the Aprilia SXR 160. Apart from these, there are no other choices in its segment but you’re looking for something premium and sporty, then there’s the TVS NTorq 125 Race XP, Honda Grazia 125 Repsol Edition, Suzuki Burgman Street, and the Yamaha RayZR 125 Street Rally Fi Hybrid.
